Today is Ashura or the Day of Atonement, a public holiday in many Muslim countries. It is a holiday in Iraq, which is an excuse to post this picture of typical Iraqi breakfast foods. I hope it is readable at this size. We have a spinach omelette, date pastries, labneh, khubz (flat bread), bigilla (a paste of broad beans and olive oil), tomatos, cucumber, butter, jam, olives, tea and orange juice.
