Today is the Feast of San Salvador public holiday in El Salvador. It's the climax of the week-long August Festival, celebrating the nation's patron saint. We're having empanadas de leche, a king of round local doughnut made with plantain and filled with vanilla custard. They sound like they'd be great with coffee.
