Pudding for breakfast? Awesome, says my ten-year-old and several million people in the Philippines and Taiwan. First up, we have Champorado, a kind of Filipino chocolate rice porridge. Sticky rice boiled with tablets of cacao beans. Served hot or cold, occasionally with salted dried fish (they just lost my ten-year-old). Secondly, we have Taiwanese tube rice pudding. Still in sticky rice territory, this time steamed in a bamboo tube. (May not be easy to try this one at home.) They lose my ten-year-old again by adding mushrooms, shallots, pork and eggs.
