The more I do this, the more I realise variations on the same theme crop up in different cultures under different names. Fried doughs in various forms feature under all sorts of names - doughnuts, crullers, churros, etc. The one below is a Chinese variation called Youtiao normally served at breakfast with congee. Other versions crop up in Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
