Thailand seems very generous with its public holidays. Today is Queen Suthida's Birthday, a relatively new event (they married in 2019). Banks, museums and government buildings close out of respect for the occasion (who doesn't like a holiday?) Thais should enjoy it while they can - Suthida is the king's fourth wife, and the politics within the palace make 'Game of Thrones' seem like a children's cartoon (have a read of the king's Wikipedia entry). Dim sum crept onto the Thai menu from China, but has been given a Thai twist that makes their version distinctive and flavoursome.
