BreakfastLithuania celebrates its independence today. The Baltic republic declared its independence from the Soviet Union in 1990, but did not gain recognition from its larger neighbour until a year later following the dissolution of the Union. Breakfast is a quirky selection from the Novotel in Vilnius highlighting local tastes. Items on the plate include blinis, smoked sausage, pickled herring, smoked fish, bacon, egg, olives and veges. Not sure about the thing that looks like nougat. Could be a cheese?
