most anns with drill results, or expl updates, usually contain a table with details of the holes drilled/being drilled that contain the following details:

for anyone who isn't too sure of what they mean

eastings/northings are location identifiers that enable you to pinpoint on a map the location of the hole at ground level

the maps are usually govt issued series maps:

    en1.JPG
azi refers to azimuth and is the direction the hole is being drilled at surface and is expressed as a number from 0 to 360 degrees

0/360 refer to north, 180 south, 90 east, 270 west, and all points in between:

dip refers to the angle the hole is being drilled into the ground and is expressed as a number above zero, to 90 degrees

note all the holes below are described as 40m @ 100% red from 200m, as holes are (except when hens teeth are found during blue moons) reported using downhole depths

hole A has 90 deg dip, hole Z has 10 deg dip and note how much closer to the actual surface the mineralised intersection is

ideally holes are drilled perpendicular to an orebody

there is almost always deviation in drilling, due to ground conditions

shallow auger drilling it is common to see 90 deg dip

dip lower than 10 deg can be found when drilling into the side of a hill, see some of cwx ann

note when hens teeth are found during blue moons ann can use etw and etd est true width and est true depth

    etw.JPG

mRL/RL refers to height above sea level of ground at hole entry and is determined, ususally, by a location at a port/harbour in the state/country (deemed as sea level)
