    Today is a public holiday in Burundi to mark the life of the independence leader Prince Louis Rwagasore. The prince is fondly remembered for founding a series of cooperatives that helped native Burundians achieve some control of an economy dominate by Belgian colonists. Rwagasore was a leading figure in the drive for independence and became Prime Minister of a free Burundi just long enough to get assassinated. The nation is better known for its music than its cuisine, but there are some solid restaurants in the largest city, Bujumbura.
