It's Alaska Day in the US, marking the anniversary of the transfer of the territory from Russia to the US in 1867. We're celebrating with breakfast at Gwennie's Old Alaska Restaurant in Anchorage. Why? Well, those are reindeer sausages, a local delicacy. Reindeer are actually an introduced species - they were brought in from Siberia during the 1890s as a replacement food source after whaling ships fished out native waters.
