Today is Austria's National Day, celebrating the nation's emergence from the long post-World War II Allied occupation in 1955. (The country had been split into four "zones" presided over by the Brits, Yanks, Russians and French.) As the occupation ended, the Austrian parliament passed a law cementing permanent neutrality. Breakfast ("fruhstuck") in Austria is similar to Germany - lots of cold meats, cheese and breads.
