Today is Independence Day in Vietnam, commemorating the 'August Revolution' at the end of the World War II. On this day in 1945, Ho Chi Minh read the Declarations of Independence of Vietnam in Hanoi. His speech invoked the American Declaration of Independence and the Declaration of Rights from the French Revolution - two nations that would do their damnedest to halt Ho's revolution.
