    Suzee, no you don't need cash in your account to do this. Its called T+3(trade + 3 days). When you buy a stock you need to come up with the cash with-in 3 days. When you sell stock the broker will fund the account in 3 days.

    So with your strategy your selling the stock with-in the 3 day period.

    However your playing a very dangerous game. If you haven't the cash to honour the trade and the company goes into a trading halt your in trouble.

    Some brokers won't let their clients trade on T+3. I Personally reckon it should be outlawed.
