    Event calendar for week beginning 11 January 2010 OVERVIEW

    North America > A busy week ahead on the US economic calendar. We have Novembers trade balance figures, consumer confidence, mortgage applications, the Feds beige book, retail sales and CPI numbers for the month of December as well as a small amount of jobs data.

    Canada > A relatively quiet calendar for Canada in the up coming week. Expect to see Novembers international merchandise trade, new housing price index and motor vehicle sales to be released.

    Australia and New Zealand > Australia sees a flurry of data being released this week. TD securities inflation gauge, ANZ job ads, housing finance as well as employment data are all scheduled to be released over the next seven days.

    On Wednesday, 13 January 2010 the AOFM will auction $500 million of the March 2019 Bonds. On Friday, 15 January 2010 the AOFM will auction $700 million of the April 2015 Bonds.

    Relatively quiet for New Zealand next week with the NZIER business opinion survey, Novembers building permits, and card spending for December on the Kiwis economic calendar.

    Japan and China* > Japanese markets are closed on Monday, after which we will see a flurry of Japanese data. The current account balance, BOP, bank lending, bankruptcies, preliminaries machine tool orders figures as well as machine orders are all to be released next week.

    A busy week ahead on the Chinese economic calendar with China scheduled to release Decembers trade balance, new Yuan loans, as well as their foreign exchange reserves.


    Europe and UK > A busy European calendar for the up coming week. We see industrial production, the ECBs decision on interest rates, new car registrations as well as the Euro-Zone CPI and trade balance figures all scheduled to be released.

    Germany > has some big pieces of data to be released next week. The market will see the wholesale price index, Decembers GDP read as well as their forecasted GDP read.

    Out of the UK we will see the retail sales monitor, Decembers trade balance as well as DCLG UK house prices as well as industrial and manufacturing production.
