Today is now looking even better than it did when I first posted, thanks to a well-received after-market profit result from Intel:

Intel shares have jumped more than 7% in after-market trade and US futures have taken off. Recently S&P futures were up 1.1% and the tech-heavy Nasdaq futures +1.73%, raising hopes of another strong night in the US tonight. So far, this US profit season is smashing expectations.

Forget what I said earlier about profit-taking on our market today - the promise of further gains tonight should keep most traders in the market today.
