Hi Ipod,

I'm also surprised that you are using Comsec for your daytrading when you're having to pay $19.95 for each buy or sell.

I have a Comsec account and use that only when I want to trade a stock that IG don't take trades on - which include most stocks with a market cap of less than $100m.

Currently I have an open position on CUE via IG at $8 for the buy order. I also have an open position on CXY & BLTO which I had to purchase at $19.95 per buy as IG don't open positions on these stocks.

Also with IG you can trade the indicies at no extra costs as the cost is contained within the spread. It is sometimes good to hedge long positions on stocks that you are holding 'overnight' by taking a short position on the indicies. I currently have a short position on the DOW at 8350.
