Good morning,
US Stocks ended a volatile session with modest losses Tuesday, as the Fed's improved outlook and some signs of improvement in housing tempered a weaker revision on economic growth released in the morning.
The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) lost 17 points, or 0.2%, according to early tallies. The Dow ended the previous session at its highest level since Oct. 2, 2008.
Some analysts are saying "Stocks have had a massive run off the March lows and some participants are going to want to lock in profits ahead of the holiday,"
Since bottoming at a 12-year low on March 9, the Dow has gained 60% as of Monday's close. In that same period, the Nasdaq gained 69% and the S&P 500 gained nearly 64%.
LONDON - European stock markets wilted after a strong finish the previous day, on a downward revision to US third quarter growth figures.
In London, the FTSE 100 index shed 31.54 points, or 0.59 per cent, to close at 5,323.96 points.
FRANKFURT - Germany's Dax slipped 32.17 points, or 0.55 per cent, to 5,769.31 points.
PARIS - The CAC 40 index fell 28.55 points, or 0.75 per cent, to 3,784.62.
Oil prices were lower due to ongoing concerns about high US oil inventories.
New York's main contract, light sweet crude for December delivery, most recently traded $US1.41 lower at $US76.15.
The Australian sharemarket is set for a flat opening with Wall Street slightly lower on weak economic data.
At 0655 AEDT on the Sydney Futures Exchange, the December share price index contract was three points higher at 4,706.
In economic news on Wednesday, the Australian Bureau of Statistics releases construction work data for September quarter.
The Department of Employment and Workplace Relations releases its skilled job vacancies survey.
