    Good morning,

    After seesawing through the session, US stocks staged a late-session rally, with financial, technology and commodity shares leading the charge.

    The Dow Jones industrial average (INDU) rose 77 points, or 0.7%. The Dow had gained as much as 145 points and lost as much as 34 points earlier.

    LONDON - European stock markets closed higher on Monday, with London's FTSE 100 index of leading shares up 59.95 points, or 1.19 per cent, to 5,104.50 points.

    FRANKFURT - In Germany, the DAX added 15.86 points, or 0.29 per cent, to 5,430.82 points.

    PARIS - In France, the CAC 40 rose 31.77 points, or 0.88 per cent, to 3,639.46.

    World oil prices rallied on Monday, partly boosted by positive manufacturing data from China.

    New York's main contract, light sweet crude for December delivery had gained $US1.13 to $US78.16 a barrel.

    The Australian share market has received generally positive leads from Wall Street, with most major indices higher, along with oil and precious metals, while copper was lower.

    At 0654 AEDT on the Sydney Futures Exchange, the December share price index contract was two points higher at 4,545.

    In economic news on Tuesday, the Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) holds its monthly board meeting. Its decision on interest rates is due to be announced at 2.30pm (AEDT).

    Gold up 15.90 to US$1056.30 an ounce
    Silver up 15c to US$16.405 an ounce
    Copper down 0.55c at US$2.955 a pound
