I trade part time, andI value this thread immensely. HC posters have alerted me to stocks, which I've then researched and traded, most of them profitably. I could not have done that on my own while also working in my day job (although I'll be attempting it for real between 16-20 Nov).
However, the essence of day-trading, as I see it, is to make money from short-term positions, usually less than 3 days, sometimes as short as minutes. Everyone has their favourites, and I'm sure most of us have been stuck with a trade that's tied up capital for weeks or even months. These companies can spike on good news, presenting an opportunity to unload, but it can be frustrating waiting for that day.
In the meantime, we should exercise some restraint, and only talk up stocks that have real significance *today* or *this week*, and avoid the ones that have gone sideways or done nothing recently.
