What you say does make sense, however i am darned if I know what will happen first at this early stage.. the intraday rise or the intraday fall...

My "expectation" is a rise first, however, i do note that Voltaire, on the XJO thread is suggesting we will close with minor losses for the day, (on XJO) which suggests his scenario is more in line with yours, that is, a rise in the afternooon.

Anyway.. enuff from me... Index stuff I think at this stage can tend to muddy the waters when day trading intraday on individual stocks.
