Nigel Austin, founder of Cotton On, I used to sell Christmas trees with as a kid on the roadside, had his old penthouse up for sale on the weekend.  Great layout but no lift, no security parking. So have now embarked on building 2 high class north facing apartments complexes with the latest technology, auto glass shading,  lifts, mood lighting, fountains in the vicinity with the best rooftop decks Australia has ever seen.

THE crowd had the chance to soak in one of Geelong’s best waterfront views while an auctioneer tried entice bids from two buyers.
Hodges, Geelong West auctioneer Marcus Falconer positioned himself by the end of the third floor terrace at 302/64 Eastern Beach Rd, Geelong in the hope the incredible vista behind him would inspire bidders.

The property is located in an enviable position, with tall palm trees framing the famed Eastern Beach promenade below with the You Yangs dominating the horizon. The panorama peered west across the water to Cunningham Pier.
But several buyers were playing incredibly hard to get when it came to bidding at auction for the property, even after Mr Falconer opened with $950,000 vendor bid.

Two bidders eventually entered the fray, making a couple bids each before Mr Falconer passed in the renovated two-bedroom apartment for $1.02 million.
Like many sales at this price level, another buyer initiated an auction after the auction, coming forward as the crowd filed downstairs at the end of proceedings.

Mr Falconer said the apartment eventually sold to the local for $1.17 million.
The other bidders were from Melbourne, Mr Falconer said.
With two parking spaces available in the complex, the new buyers can enjoy the proximity to East Geelong village in Garden St, or walk to the CBD, he said.

The two-bedroom apartment featured a two-way spa bathroom, a powder room, laundry and modernised kitchen behind an open-plan living and dining room on a polished concrete floor.
Full width bi-fold doors opened into the spacious terrace.
It was the second $1 million sale in as many weeks after a two-bedroom townhouse at 1 England St, Geelong, sold the previous weekend for $1.35 million.

The apartment complex is directly behind the Eastern Beach enclosure.
The two-storey townhouse is opposite Austin Park, offering a spectacular view across the Royal Geelong Yacht Club.
PRD Nationwide, Geelong agent Laurie McGovan, who handled the England St auction, was also in the crowd at the Eastern Beach Rd auction.
