mitch, research helps find out what's driving the share price higher/lower but doesn't guarantee successful trades unfortunately, quite often it's not the story but share issues that create movement in the small caps imo, nearly all of the stories come to nothing but companies will always be looking for ways to raise money
discipline, money management etc are vital elements, loads of info is free on the internet inc some books if you search for them covering the major topics
best mentor is the reducing bank balance, work out why and try not to repeat mistakes, read the thread and find your style, lots of good traders on here with good and bad tips
