I don't really take too much notice of what the indexes are doing.
The Dow Jones only consists of 30 stocks.
In Australia we have the ASX 200 (top 200 companies) and the all ordinaries (top 500 companies).
Most stocks we mention on the day traders thread are well outside of the top 500 companies.
Not every stock goes up on an up day in the market.
9 times out of 10 my portfolio will go down on an up day in the market and vice versa when the market goes down.
Not all stocks move in line with the market, as you have noted.
