Sometimes there are people that sell in the auction because they do not want to hold overnight and so drop the price so they can get sold. And some buyers keep missing out on getting into the stock if it fluctuates during trading hours, the auction gives them a chance to buy in and smart ones will be looking for the people wanting not to hold overnight and take their shares. Only my thoughts.
