Just been reading a sci-fi novel by Michael Crichton (Jurassic Park), called Prey. Terrible book but very interesting science. Has basis in self-organising behaviour like ants, termites, bacteria etc. How you can get complex behaviour/intelligence and outcomes from unintelligent critters (if there are enough of them) ie swarms. And of course it applies to the stock market. For someone like me who really has to know why things happen, this was a Eureka moment.

I wouldn't recco the book, but there's a lot about 'swarm Intelligence' and 'natural intelligence' out there if wanna find out more. It certainly gave me pause for thought.

The book was published in 1992 and has an extensive bibliography in the back.
