Would be interesting to do a poll and see how many peeps would be bothered if they received nothing on any of these "commercialism days". I doubt many peeps would be perfectly OK with getting nothing (if they were honest).
Combating these social norms isn't necessarily easy.
Might become less of a concern as the years roll on.
I'm certainly noticing in myself that I'm less patient with what I regard as the daily BS. I'm also more likely now to say something (out loud) when I see what I regard as bad behaviour. Possibly evolving into a grumpy old bastard. Let's see if I can get to retirement age without "assisting police with their enquiries."
