Thanks Highlandlad and Good Morning all,
US - Market Reflections - Monday 11th July, 2011
Talk of Greek-related bank contagion hitting Italy and Spain together with Asia's reaction to Friday's US jobs report sent the Dow down nearly 1-1/4 percent to 12,505. Money moved to the safety of gold, which gained $15 to $1,555, and to the safety of Treasuries where the 10-year yield fell 11 basis points to 2.92 percent. The dollar also benefited rising nearly one percent on the dollar index while the euro lost nearly two percent against the dollar to $1.4000. Industrial commodities fell with oil down $3 to $95.
Market Focus in the US this evening
Exports have been a central strength of the US economy and any weakening would raise questions about foreign demand. International trade data will be posted at 8:30 a.m. ET this morning.
