Thanks Endless and Good Morning all,

    US - Market Reflections - Tuesday 5th July, 2011

A rating cut for Portugal late in Tuesday's session gave a boost to safe-haven assets. The Moody's action is a reminder that sovereign risk, despite last week's progress over Greece, remains a key uncertainty for the outlook. Money moved into short-term Treasuries including the 2-year note where the yield fell a sharp four basis points to 0.43 percent. The dollar index rose 1/2 percent while gold rose $30 to $1,515. Despite the Moody's cut, the Dow, ending at 12,569, was only fractionally changed while commodities firmed including oil which gained $2 to $97.

Market Focus in the US this evening
