'Market Reflections' from previous session (04.06.2010)

"Rumors and comments out of Europe built talk of a double dip, talk that picked up after a disappointing jobs report that shows an early fall-off for the jobs recovery. Losses picked up steam late in the session with the S&P ending 3.4 percent lower at 1,064. The euro has broken under $1.2000, losing 2 cents and ending near $1.1950. The dollar index jumped 1.5 percent. Euro depreciation may give the region's exports a boost, but it may also push interest rates higher. Rates here have been falling steeply as funds move out of Europe. The 30-year yield fell 15 basis points in the session to 4.12 percent. Commodities fell steeply led by a $3-1/2 loss for oil to just over $71.00. Gold is holding its value, up nearly $20 to just under $1,220. " [Source: Bloomberg., Mark Pender]
