KR, I can't see anything obvious on the usual news wires to explain the surge in U.S. futures.
Most likely an early-evening news story breaking in the U.S. - could be a leak relating to the Fed's plans this week or today's Chinese manufacturing data or perhaps a surprise pre-election U.S. poll? Just speculating.
