Sorry guys, ran out of time to pull together a half-time wrap - I loaded up on mid-caps during that plunge and have too many open trades to manage.
Business confidence dropped a fraction but not enough to explain the sell-off. Market looks nervy but the fall appears overdone unless I'm missing something. Can't see any obvious explanation on the usual news feeds. I'm betting on a modest afternoon recovery.
Nikkei down 0.9% and Dow futures at -46. Shanghai, oil, gold, silver all down.
