    "An unexpected rate increase out of China sent a chill through the financial markets. The Dow industrials lost 1.5 percent to 10,978. Gold plunged deeply, down $40 to $1,332 to set up what the bulls are hoping will be a powerful rally back to hold highs. Oil fell $4 to $79. Money moved into the safety of Treasuries but only to a limited degree with the 30-year yield down 4 basis points to 3.91 percent. The dollar got a boost from jawboning by U.S. officials, gaining 1.7 percent on the dollar index to 78.27." [Source: nasdaq.com., Mark Pender]

An optimistic view of those authorities is considered as positive, or bullish for the USD, whereas a pessimistic view is considered as negative, or bearish for the Dollar.]
