'Market Focus' in the US this evening
"Based on the empty data calendar and a light earnings calendar, Friday looks to be a quiet session." [Source: nasdaq.com., Mark Pender]
'Market Reflections' from the last trading session (21.10.2010)
"Strong earnings from Caterpillar, which reports a rebound in demand for construction equipment, gave stocks a lift including a 0.4 percent gain for the Dow to 11,146. Economic news was headed by a favorable decline in jobless claims while details of the leading indicators and Philly Fed reports were mixed at best.
Gold, hit by profit taking and not fundamental news, extended its two-day loss to $50, ending at $1,335 for a $10 loss on the day. The key fundamental news for gold, as it is for other commodities, is this week's rate hike in China. Oil lost $2 to end at $80.50. The dollar index firmed 0.4 percent to 77.46 while Treasury rates moved higher with the 30-year ending at 3.96 percent." [Source: nasdaq.com., Mark Pender]
