I use igmarkets for indexes 6ULDV8, maybe someone who uses etrade cfd's can direct you
at fpmarkets for instance, i don't think index trading is available, it wasn't last time i asked
If i wanted to short the index at ig, i'd sell Australia 200 cash - there's a $5 mini contract, a 100 points index move = $500 if you buy or sell 1 contract for instance
Make sure you check with your CFD provider and you understand what you're trading
I think overnight index shorts get adjusted for dividends, again check with your provider, don't take my word for it

PSA - might be more in the tank on discovery announcement today, Marathon discovery 2 miles away producing restricted 15 million cubic feet of gas and 100 barrels of condensate in production last month
