'Market Reflections' from the last trading session (24.09.2010)

"A jump in new orders for machinery, communications equipment, and fabrications renewed confidence in business investment and its important role for exports and the recovery of the manufacturing sector. New home sales failed to move from their record hole yet the news could only slow the stock market where the Dow gained nearly two percent to 10,860. Treasury rates rose yet only slightly compared to the change for the Dow. The 30-year yield rose about five basis points to end the week at 3.79 percent. Gold hit $1,300 but couldn't break past, ending at $1,295. Expectations for a second round of quantitative easing are helping gold as they've been hurting the dollar. The dollar index fell one percent to 79.28, down 2.4 percent on the week." [Source: nasdaq.com., Mark Pender]
