Timbo, best response to help with the grieving is to immediately get another kitten with a distinct personality imo. Don't get an identical one, you can't replicate them. A good plan I've found is to always make sure that the life expectancy of your pets overlaps (if you have more than one). I've owned pets all my life; they're great characters, and better mates than most of the humans you know - this last bit might be a bit contentious but shouldn't be a problem for you :))
