Agree that the prices in Australia for most items are ridiculous, but retailers still has some advantages they can explore to make themselves more competative, there're still things that that'll cost too much postage to ship from o'seas, and you can go for a refund/exchange if you bought from a local retailer, refunds for online purchases will cost you postage.
Contrary to common believe, some items are cheaper from the "other" retailer than JB or Online stores. You just have to shop around and compare.
JB used to be cheapest but not anymore. Recently I bought a 3D LED TV from Retravison, the price was $80 better than the "deal" the guy in JB offered me, and on par with the cheapest quote I found Online. I also bought a Blueray DVD player on special from Harvey for $30 cheaper that JB's special. I used to hold JBH in my SMSF but not anymore.
