people use technical indicators without thinking about what they actually are

mostly I think because

a] it's free on their free platform
b] because that's the trading 101 books tell them to do
c] other diy traders/people who read the same books talk about it

and they lock themselves into a silly way of doing something that is not fit for purpose

if you think educating yourself means drawing a bollinger band on an all-or-nothing micro-cap exploration stock
