I'd love to have a bit more of a discussion about bots, my understanding is they can be used for many purposes and thus are not a sign of one particular thing happening. If we take NEU's case, and assume that it is indeed on the up; Lots of small, frequent buys will tend to result in less movement of price, take out a significant portion of a line, or all of it will drive the price up, but frequent small buys gives sellers a chance to reload and keep the vwap down, and that is the aim of some buyers, to keep close to or under the vwap. Also look at NEU's close, I can't be arsed going back but it looked very much like whatever buy got put up, the sell side would adjust exactly to match. This keeps the price down for another day of the same, perhaps.... What it also does is tends to allow whoever is using the bots to accumulate whist you can't and then they'll later do you the service of selling them into your buys, albeit at a later price. Honsetly though, who knows? What I do know is it tends to be an indication of higher volumes coming in (which they need to operate) and potentially a bit of sideways movement for a while, how long that lasts for who can say, but I saw a lot of bot action when neu released their phase 2 results, IMO it caused the SP to stall at 13-14 and after a while people gave up and the SP dropped, someone has got some very cheap shares over the last few weeks, remember NEU was at 8c prior to results so at one point you could buy a very de-risked bio for only 20% more than previously.
