I'm actively trading only for about 5 months, still alive, lol, and my trading balance just turned positive ;-))) trying to get there to find my edge and trading style. A few things I’ve learnt on the way:
- Stop losses must have but used to put them in a wrong place where they most likely were hit
- Plan your entry/exits before the trade
- Don't trade because you want to trade and because it feels boring (better to do something else )
- Learn, learn and again learn every day, every trade is a lesson
Have another rule now, to buy stocks in uptrend with some exceptions like panic sale etc.
I started to use charting a few indicators just in January and learnt a lot, i was obviously blind before that point and missed the best opportunities as well as lost some money. Well, I guess you never become a good trader till you learn your own lessons, if market is good you can be plain lucky for a while but one day a wrong decision and you lose everything you’ve gained before, so you should be consistent in you decision making. Mr Market showed no mercy for me from the very first day, so I learn the hard way but I’m glad I did.
