* Base metal prices posted gains of between 1.3-2.7pct in London trade on Wednesday with tin faring the best and zinc up the least.
The gold price also rose on Wednesday in response to a weaker US dollar and strong physical demand for bullion. The Comex June futures price was higher by US$15.60 an ounce or 1.1pct to US$1,464.40 per ounce.
