    The Australian share market ended higher but pulled back from earlier gains, as investors digested news that France and Germany have a plan to fix the eurozone debt crisis.

    By the close, the benchmark S&P/ASX200 index gained 26.6 points, or 0.63 per cent, at 4,227.6 and the broader All Ordinaries index climbed 26.5 points, or 0.62 per cent, to 4,288.8.

    The local market opened about one per cent up on Tuesday on the back of strong leads from US and Europeanmarkets, which were boosted by the news from the weekend of the debt plan by France and Germany.

    Cameron Securities client adviser Adrian Leppinus said many investors were sitting on the sidelines even though the market had a second positive day on the eurozone debt news.

    Stocks to watch at noon on Wednesday:

    AAI - ALCOA INCORPORATED - last traded at $10.50

    Alcoa's quarterly profit has fallen short of expectation as worries about the global economy hurt aluminum prices

    BSL - BLUESCOPE STEEL LTD - Up one cent, or 1.12 per cent, at 90.5 cents

    Union boss Paul Howes is calling on Opposition Leader Tony Abbott to "save the steel industry" by the coalition backing the $300 million industry assistance package for its workers.

    ERA - ENERGY RESOURCES OF AUSTRALIA LTD - last traded at $3.29

    Energy Resources Australia (ERA) plans to raise $500 million with the issue of new shares to fund expansion plans.

    FBU - FLETCHER BUILDING LTD - down 77 cents, or 12.144 per cent, at $5.42

    Fletcher Building shares tumbled, wiping more than half a billion dollars off the company's market value, after it said earnings growth will stall this year.

    FMG - FORTESCUE METALS GROUP LTD - down 18 cents, or 3.74 per cent, at $4.63

    Fortescue Metals Group has increased its iron ore reserves at the Nyidinghu deposit by 980 million tonnes.

    JBH - JB HI-FI LTD - down 18 cents, of 1.3 per cent, at $13.69

    Consumer electronics chain JB Hi-Fi says trading conditions have been challenging in the three months to September, but that the launch of the iPhone 4S and other new releases are expected to boost sales.

    NWS - NEWS CORPORATION - down one cent, at $16.84

    A leading shareholder advisory firm says most of News Corp's board, including Chairman Rupert Murdoch, should be replaced because of a phone-hacking scandal that has embroiled one of the conglomerate's British tabloids.

    TAH - TABCORP HOLDINGS LTD - up 10 cents, or 3.85 per cent, at $2.70

    Wagering and gaming firm Tabcorp Holdings' first quarter revenue rose by 2.7 per cent compared to the same period last year, with improved performance across the company's four divisions.
