COMEX METALS... spot gold is currently $1670.15 oz. The Oct gold contract fell $6.30 to $1675.50 oz, the Dec contract fell $6.40 to $1676.60 oz. Oct silver was down 34.9c to $31.791 oz. Oct platinum fell $2.20 to $1547.30 oz and Oct copper fell 3.15c to 337.35c lb.

LONDON METAL EXCHANGE... official cash ask prices were: copper $7566 tonne (pre $7500.50), tin $22,000 (pre $22,050), lead $1990.50 (pre $2008), zinc $1900 (pre $1901.50), aluminium $2210 (pre $2171) and nickel $18,755 (pre $18,900).

The 3-month ask prices were copper $7570 (pre $7520), tin $21,835 (pre $22,125), lead $2022.50 (pre $2028), zinc $1919.50 (pre $1912), aluminium $2227 (pre $2201.50) and nickel $18,800 (pre $18,800).



OIL... Nov crude fell $0.42 to $86.38 a barrel, with a high of $88.18 and a low of $85.88. The Dec contract fell $0.38 to $86.62 a barrel with a high of $88.40 and low of $86.11. Brent ICE for Nov fell $2.22 to $110.01 a barrel with a high of $112.32 and a low of $109.74.

US DOLLAR... is changing hands at 76.84 yen (pre 77.07), against the euro it is US$1.3748 (pre 1.3872) against sterling US$1.5753 (pre 1.5814) and against the Swiss franc US$1.1129 (pre 1.1210).





AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR... is changing hands at US$1.0191 compared with US$1.0314 on yesterday's close. Offshore the Aussie posted a high of US$1.0372 and low of US$1.0179. Against the yen it is at 78.30 (pre 79.57) at 74.12 euro cents (pre 74.42) and 64.70 British pence (pre 65.28).

Reuters CRB index is down 2.62 points to 314.56.
