Sydney - Friday - Sept 9: (RWE Aust Business News) -

COMEX METALS... spot gold is currently $1865.65 oz. The Sept gold contract rose $40.20 to $1854.40 oz, the Dec contract rose $39.90 to $1857.50 oz. Sept silver was up 90.7c to $42.479 oz. Oct platinum rose $25.80 to $1854.50 oz and Sept copper rose 1.25c to 412.80c lb.

LONDON METAL EXCHANGE... official cash ask prices were: copper $9041 tonne (pre $8970.50), tin $24,450 (pre $24,150), lead $2423.50 (pre $2432), zinc $2196 (pre $2192.50), aluminium $2366 (pre $2355.50) and nickel $21,540 (pre $21,160).

The 3-month ask prices were copper $9061.50 (pre $8991), tin $24,405 (pre $24,100), lead $2405 (pre $2410.50), zinc $2219 (pre $2215), aluminium $2404.50 (pre $2390.50) and nickel $21,560 (pre $21,225).



OIL... Oct crude fell $0.29 to $89.05 a barrel, with a high of $90.23 and a low of $88.59. The Nov contract fell $0.32 to $89.23 a barrel with a high of $90.40 and low of $88.80. Brent ICE for Oct fell $1.54 to $114.26 a barrel with a high of $116.49 and a low of $114.20.

US DOLLAR... is changing hands at 77.48 yen (pre 77.28), against the euro it is US$1.3889 (pre 1.4099) against sterling US$1.5966 (pre 1.5990) and against the Swiss franc US$1.1433 (pre 1.1650).





AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR... is changing hands at US$1.0589 compared with US$1.0589 on yesterday's close. Offshore the Aussie posted a high of US$1.0661 and low of US$1.0566. Against the yen it is at 82.04 (pre 82.34) at 76.25 euro cents (pre 75.58) and 66.33 British pence (pre 66.64).

Reuters CRB index is up 0.09 points to 339.9.
