COMEX METALS... are being traded electronically, spot gold is currently $1897.95 oz. The Sept gold contract is up $25.30 to $1899 oz, the Dec contract is up $25.90 to $1902.80 oz. Sept silver is down 5c to $42.970 oz. Oct platinum is up $8.70 to $1893.50 oz and Sept copper is down 7.45c to 403.25c lb.
LONDON METAL EXCHANGE... official cash ask prices were: copper $8935 tonne (pre $9050.50), tin $23,875 (pre $24,055), lead $2444 (pre $2527), zinc $2132.50 (pre $2190), aluminium $2363.50 (pre $2400) and nickel $21,030 (pre $21,570).
The 3-month ask prices were copper $8962 (pre $9073), tin $23,920 (pre $24,200), lead $2430.50 (pre $2507), zinc $2161.50 (pre $2219), aluminium $2398 (pre $2438.50) and nickel $21,075 (pre $21,605).
OIL... Oct crude is currently $2.85 lower at $83.60 a barrel, with a high of $86.50 and a low of $83.50. The Nov contract is down $2.88 to $83.86 a barrel with a high of $86.80 and low of $83.76. Brent ICE for Oct is down $2.41 to $109.92 a barrel with a high of $112.50 and a low of $109.90.
US DOLLAR... is changing hands at 76.89 yen (pre 76.94), against the euro it is US$1.4093 (pre 1.4146) against sterling US$1.6111 (pre 1.6145) and against the Swiss franc US$1.2705 (pre 1.2676).
AUSTRALIAN DOLLAR... is changing hands at US$1.0545 compared with US$1.0573 on yesterday's close. Offshore the Aussie posted a high of US$1.0618 and low of US$1.0515. Against the yen it is at 81.08 (pre 81.53) at 74.83 euro cents (pre 74.92) and 65.46 British pence (pre 65.67).
