The short positions is dynamic, depending on the situation. It is probable that 100,000,000 of the outstanding shares were sold at over $1.00. These guys have a lots of time on their hands, even if the SP goes up a lot. However, the ones shorting at the low current prices are the ones that have the greatest worry. As the price goes up, some will certainly cover but others may jump on the band wagon, hoping for another decrease in SP. BUT, if the SP starts moving up rapidly and consistently, and it will!, every shorter will need to decide when to buy back. There will still be winners but heaps of losers. If the price exceeds $2.60 quickly, then they will all lose unless they buy on the up.
