Batemans Bay...beautiful part of the world.
My family has a history in the area...still does.
Commercial fishing and diving, oyster farming and gold mining down south at Nerrigunda in the late 1800'.
My Grandparents once owned a house right on the waters edge next to the bridge...where the current boat ramp is. My grandfather was a government geologist, and unfortunately lost over 25 ounces of gold samples when it burnt down..it was never recovered?
My auntie still lives in the little house on the corner, as you come off the bridge...it backs onto the river out the back, where the oyster's are processed from their leases.
Down the other end of town, I have a place accross from the Marina, just oposite the Golf Course...great access to everything.
Have many fond memories of swimming at "Denhams" and "Surf" beaches, fishing at "the pinacle" and "culendulla"...especially of pulling 5kg bream out of the river at a place called "chinamans point" and "the mangroves".
The "Bay" has become a little too commercial now, but I still feel good just being in the area.
