In Todays AFR, Merrill's David Errington warns Coles "may have reverted back to short-term profit grabbing... we've spoken to suppliers and the theme that is common is that Coles have taken a very heavy-handed approach to extracting rebate dollars from suppliers". Oh dear! chalenging suppliers to reduce their inflated margins - travesty. and exactly what is short term about extracting better value from suppliers?
Ask Walmart suppliers about how they feel doing business with the american giant.
