Yes, ideally we don't want extremist nutbags roaming in our neighbourhood.
The fact is, there are plenty of nutbags roaming around predisposed to violence.
We can't predict siege/hostage events in advance even though they do occur from time to time.

But this situation could have got a whole lot uglier.
It 'appears' the crap really began only when the attempt was made to remove his gun.
Up until that point, he had not shot anybody.
Apparently he only wanted to talk to the pm.
Maybe this explains why the cops were hanging back as he had not hurt anybody up until that stage.
If he was truly suicidal and a psychopath of a higher order, he would have taken all their lives.
As madmin stated earlier, if the young fellow had succeeded in removing the gun, things would be different.
Such is fate.
