If they continue with the current methods then when it comes time for them to actually raise capital from the market they may experience difficulty as the "smell" will be lingering on many punters fingers they have burnt setting themselves up.
If they wanted to get rid of traders they have just let a whole lot more of them on to the register and longterm holders who have the funds have loaded up to average down. This will result in more overhead to break through to get to higher prices which one day they will need when they want to raise some real cash.
