So an interesting deadline passed on Saturday - it was the 30th day since the AELB announced, on 2 February, the approval of TOL (subject to the obvious conditions). 3 March was therefore the appeals deadline under s/32 of the Atomic Energy Licensing Act.

You will also note that on 28 Feb the Malaysian Attorney General's office actioned a preliminary objection to the complaint suit, saying the 10 complainants should have first exhausted internal avenues before going to the High Court.

I have done a media search and can find no evidence that the protestors submitted an appeal between being effectively told to by the courts (28 Feb) and the deadline (3 March).

IMHO this will make them look even more like idiots in front of the judge when they head back to the High Court later this month. It can also be argued, quite rightly IMHO, that the protestors are in contempt of the judicial and political processes by not submitting an appeal. Tactically they have boxed themselves into a corner and they will look like they don't respect the courts or the law.

I'll be interested to see how the protestors can get out of this one. Personally I think they've got a fart's chance in a whirlwind of getting anywhere with this. Expect to see some positive news and some closure by the end of March IMO.
